YEAR-END BEST OF

Hey what’s up everyone, how you doing today? My name is Tim Penner and this is the first episode of Slideways Sessions for a new year… and a new decade. I hope everyone had a great New Years whether you went out to celebrate with friends, or stayed at home and enjoyed a nice quiet night. For me, as I’m doing this intro, for the first time in years, I’m at home with my wife and my son, spending a well deserved, relaxing time together to slide into 2020. To say this past year has been a roller coaster would be an understatement. I’ve had many incredible highs… and I’ve battled some debilitating lows, and I’m doing my best to ride it all out in order to maintain some stability somewhere in the middle. I know I’m not alone in feeling these things and as you listen today, I’m sure you can relate to the feeling of simply maintaining yourself just long enough to get to the inevitable “next stage”…. whatever that may be. I think for me, I’ve realized that sometimes there is no control over your present situation.. try as you might, the universe sort of seems to just… have other plans. Sometimes no matter what you try, that next stage just simply seems unattainable. Through these moments there’s been one concept that keeps me sane. I mentioned it once before in an episode but I felt it was fitting to start the year with this in mind. We are ripples… creating our own waves in an endless ocean. As we impact others… so too do they impact us. Though our ripples may reach far distances and impact many… so too will their ripple affect us.. and they morph and change to the impact of others. And it’s in these moments when you try to create your own unique wave that you have to appreciate the beauty in the chaos and ever changing, never ending motion of the whole. Yes… we are ripples… but in fact, the ocean will always be the ocean. For me this is a powerful thought because it’s in these moments when you just want to make a difference, you need to also realize that we are connected by something greater than us. We’ve all been pulled together here by a very specific force… through music. We’ve found others that ripple in similar ways to us.. and so together we can be stronger….. and as we grow stronger, our unified ripples can cause waves that reach greater distances and have a great positive impact on the ocean that surrounds us. This is my mission. This is my purpose. So as we move into 2020, my goal is to make a difference in the only way I know how…. to ripple my own positive perspective into a chaotic, ever changing body of water. I hope this year and decade ahead proves to be something powerful for you and the ones around you. I hope you can make a change in yourself and to those that you touch. I hope that through this understanding, you will reach your own “next stage” that will carry you forward into the life you dream for yourself.
